We are delighted to be starting a St Vincent de Paul Society conference here at St John Payne. Following a meeting in the Church Hall in October, the parish is now applying to form its own conference. More details will follow, and more volunteers are very welcome.
What is the SVP?
The Society of St Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic charity, founded in Paris in 1833 by Blessed Frédéric Ozanam and his friends. Its members work in small parish groups called conferences, offering friendship and practical help to people in need in their local community, most often by visiting them at home.
Members meet regularly to pray together and plan their work. Their help is offered to anyone in need, whatever their faith or background.
Getting involved
You do not need any special skills, only a willingness to give a little time and to treat everyone with kindness and respect. If you would like to help, please speak to Fr Alex after Mass or contact the parish.
