At St John Payne, we welcome and support all those who feel called to proclaim the Word of the Lord at Mass.
Readers proclaim the Scripture readings at Mass, helping the whole congregation to hear and pray with the Word of God. It is a real ministry of service, and preparation matters: reading the passage beforehand, praying with it, and reading clearly and reverently.
You do not need to be a confident public speaker to begin. If you would like to become a Reader, please speak to the person who looks after the rota for the Mass you usually attend:
- Saturday 5pm Vigil Mass: Carol Bachelor
- Sunday 9am Mass: Angela Barry
- Sunday 10.45am Mass: Ben Locker
- Ordinariate Masses (Divine Worship): Fr Alex
Alternatively, drop a line to the parish office and one of us will get back to you as soon as we can.
